Operations Manager — Breakbulk & Project Cargo

An operations-leadership role for a project cargo forwarder moving oversized and heavy-lift freight through the Midwest. Reports to the Director of Operations. Owns project execution end to end, with a team of project coordinators.
What you'll own
- Day-to-day execution of breakbulk and project shipments from booking to delivery
- Multi-modal routing across heavy haul, rail, barge, and ocean
- Oversize / overweight permitting, escorts, and route surveys across state lines
- Coordination with ports, terminals, stevedores, riggers, and chartering on lift plans and vessel schedules
- File profitability, cost control, claims, and on-time performance
- Supervision and development of the project coordinator team
What we're looking for
- 5+ years in breakbulk, project cargo, or heavy-haul operations with a forwarder, carrier, or heavy-lift specialist
- Hands-on experience with permitting, route surveys, lift planning, and cargo securement
- Experience supervising a coordinator team
- Strong cost control and customer communication
- Bachelor's degree preferred
